I mean come on. Another defeat. Another game without a goal and we are yet to know what it's like to take a lead! We're almost a quarter in.
I think fans were too easily pleased with the Peterborough game from last season. They remember pitch invasions, competent play and some lovely goals. They forgot that since March Parky proper bottled it. We played 10 man Oldham and had about 38% possession.
I'm sick of taking about embargos and constraints. I could put 11 traffic cones out and we'd have scored more.
And when some were concerned about pre-season 'we can't score, we don't create' and everyone said don't read too much into it. Well I begged to differ. For me it showed exactly what this team was about.
At the start of the season in all honestly I thought we'd go down. Never did I think we'd go down with such a lack of fight.
If people think that Parky is getting the best of this bunch then I dread to think what you think anyone else could do. My opinion is that someone who tries to actually play football may do better than this caveman.

A truly dreadful game highlighting the desperate plight we are in.
Three at the back. Morais, our right wing creator at left midfield and left back. Seriously?
Cullen looked no better than King in midweek and Madine who was really poor save for one shot. Wilbraham found more men in 10 mins than he did in 90 but then Wilbraham can head a ball.
All of this said we cannot compete without a keeper. They hit three excellent shots and were given time and opportunity to do so but the first was well within saveable range. A terrible game for PP which he surely cannot survive? Alnwick 4 Burke 3 Wheater 4 Beevers 3 Robinson 4 Cullen 3 Karacan 4 Morais 0 Little 5 Madine 1 Armstrong 3 Noone 3 Le Fondre 3 Wilbraham 5

I'd love to know what's really going through KA's mind right now. Having just watched the Goals programme on Channel 5, one comment struck me and is quite worrying when Clinton Morrison said of Sunderland, something along the lines of
"the Chinese have looked at them and walked away and someone else had looked at them and thought No"
If the Mackems are struggling to find a buyer, what hope do we have? What's on the table for a prospective buyer? Can they get us a lot cheaper than Sunderland? Is there more to be had for lesser money than Sunderland? I think not but of course, I know not...
So KA is probably stuck right in the middle of the war zone!!! Disgruntled support and the worst football team we've ever had and a manager that's lost the car park let alone the dressing room and a club that's struggling for an investor or new ownership!!
If Bolton and Sunderland are struggling for new owners, is football in the lower reaches in danger of eating itself? Not sure when SKY are showing all live championship games through each clubs subscribers but when that happens, we won't need to leave the house and make the awful trek to the ReeMac any longer, we can watch us get beat from home😥

Just watched the extended 11 min highlights and had forgotten how well we started. Madine actually had 2 good attempts and a lob which was a lot closer than previous ones. We have done this before and just never seem to sustain it. Why Parky?

I am however going to disagree with DavidM regarding their goals and Alnwick, they wee all terrific strikes and not many keepers would have got near any of them. Look at the attached picture goal no 1. The Brentford man is just shooting and Alnwick is stood in the left of his goal. How could he not save the shot that went straight where he was standing? Don't think Mark Isles was watching the same match as me, his scores are incredible.

David, far be it for me to defend Alnwick who I think is generally awful but I still think it would have been a terrific save to make and I personally think few would have got to it. Maybe you're right but it was a cracking free kick and sometimes you just have to credit the scorer.

I was sat behind the line of the first goal. I have seen similar admittedly very good shots saved wondrously by every keeper we have had in goal and many oppositions have repelled such shots too. Most recently Sheffield's loanee keeper made better saves in that end. Alnwick did well enough on close range shots and to my eye had no chance whatever with goal three, about a 30% chance with goal two and and about a 90% chance for goal one. That he got nowhere near the first was not unexpected but it killed the game. I have no idea how good Turner is or may become but we should have had the opportunity to see him if only for a half at West Ham. I do not think either of our first and second choice keepers gives us any chance of avoiding relegation if that's all we have.

We've been blessed with good keepers in previous years so maybe we've been spoiled but surely nobody can disagree it's a major weak link at the moment. Like you Andy, I don't know how good Turner is either but I can't believe he's worse than these two. Personally I'd have kept Amos who for me, despite his limitations is still better than both Alnwick and Howard. DavidM, after Andy's intervention, I accept you were right, Alnwick should have saved it. 😉

I haven't bothered all season so far to watch the "highlights" but given the goalkeeper debate raging on this thread have now chosen to do so. I wouldn't put any of those goals down to goalkeeper error. Alnwick seemed to make a number of reasonable saves and was left horribly exposed by our "defence".
