As unlucky as we were against Ipswich, today we were simply dreadful. I can accept the constraints Parky has been labouring under, but there's no excuse for that dismal performance. It's difficult to find any postives: Karacan is a foul waiting to happen in this mood, Armstrong is just non existent, Morais is a shadow of last season ( and why oh why stick him on the left?) Alnwick is as jittery as can be, Beevers, Wheater and Burke desperately low on confidence . I could go on. Sadly, I hope Parky doesn't.

Worst performance this season. Poor team selection, poor tactics (if there were any planned ),quite awful. Gave away the midfield and were crucified. Defended too deep, because the three defenders are too slow, and as a result gave away lots of fouls. League One cannot come soon enough, at least we might see some goals and some performances. Unable to give scores, for with the exception of Little, they were all poor. Manager minus 5 ,I have given him the benefit of the doubt up until now, but it is clear he is not up to it, and should do the honourable thing.

Well that was absolutely appalling.
We set off brightly and had 15 minutes of positive play. Fates were against us in that period as Armstrong was inches from touching in a Robinson cross, Madine had a shot well blocked by the keeper and then hit the post with a decent shot.
But by then Brentford had begun gaining control in midfield and we were just terrible from then onwards.
Brentford had been passing it around well and closing our players down when Robinson got caught on the ball and Beevers tripped their on-rushing guy (not for the last time in the match!).
The free-kick was 30 yards out β you could measure it by the green strips of turf. Alnwick lined up a wall and then was beaten all ends up by the shot. Some would say it was a wonder strike. I think Alnwick was slow and laboured trying to get to it. He should have easily saved it (not for the last time am I going to say that today!).
And that was it β the game was lost! Our heads went down. All semblance of football went and we just reverted to hoofball for the next 70+ minutes. I know we are short of confidence but where are the leaders in our team? Everyone was dreadful.
Second half, we should have expected a change after a managerial pick me up at half time but the second half was 100 times worse than the first. Brentford totally out passed us. They had runners who terrorised Wheater and Beevers. Their midfield just ran through our midfield and I donβt think that we could truthfully say that we had a decent attempt on goal in the whole 50 minutes. To show their dominance, we were forced into conceding about 5 free kicks on the edge of our box as they just ran through us.
The inevitable happened when our midfield back off and off and their midfield player just blasted the ball, again from 30 yards. I may as well have copied and pasted the next sentence as some would say it was a wonder goal. I just think that Alnwick should save 30 yard shots.
The daft thing is was that Alnwick made loads of saves and blocks as Brentford hammered us but somehow he cannot stop long distance shots (remember Ben Amos?).
The game collapsed after that. Brentford could have scored many more but just restricted themselves to a mere 20 yards shot which again beat Alnwick all ends up.
We are now 9 games in and the manager somehow doesnβt see that our tactics are awful. We are naΓ―ve. We are boring and we are so easy to defeat.
For God sake β stop this hoofball β it is killing us.
Get rid of 3 at the back!
A terrible terrible performance and the major blame goes to the manager β yet again!
Alnwick - 4 Made loads of saves but cannot save long distance shots. The conceding of the first goal absolutely killed our confidence and the game was lost from that moment.
Little - 4 Did some decent attacking but was battered by the quick players.
Burke - 3 Tried hard as always but totally outrun and out-dribbled.
Wheater - 3 Terrible trouble against a very small striker who ran him ragged.
Beevers - 2 Like a carthorse. In the first half, Brentford just danced down his left and left him for dead.
Robinson - 3 Exciting going forward but mostly runs into a dead end. Too lightweight defensively.
Cullen - 2 I cannot see what he does at all. Not a defensive midfielder. Why not play one of our young kids instead of him. He may be no better but cannot be any worse.
Karacan - 2 I know a lot of people like him but he did nothing today. He was outplayed in central midfield. Also got his 5th booking so will be banned.
Morais - 2 Again not played on the right wing. Central midfield and then left wing. He is being wasted.
Armstrong - 3 Nothing of note. Cannot link up with Madine.
Madine - 4 Hit the post and forced our only save but he was another whose head went down when the first goal went in.
Manager - 1 I am lost for words to describe the awful tactics. The failure to motivate at half time. The ridiculous random change of tactics. He is just hopeless and, after rescuing us last season, is now killing us.

It has all been said, I agree with all previous posts. Just dire. and now from BN? PHIL Parkinson admitted his side are not looking capable of surviving in the Championship this season as he reflected on a dismal home defeat against Brentford. From BBC: 10 shots? 43% Away57% Shots Home10 Away22 Shots on Target Home3 Away10 Corners Home5 Away6 Fouls Home22 Away13

A sad, demoralising experience for players, management and supporters despite the bright opening, any optimism from which was quickly dissipated in a manner that has become all too familiar. There is no guarantee that a change of management would improve things, but a change of tactics surely couldn't make things any worse, and might just have a positive effect. After having Ameobi built up all week as being ready to go he wasn't on the bench, very frustrating...I can't really add to David M's comments, other than suggest that Wilbraham showed both a desire to win the ball, and a pleasing propensity for using it well. He brought something out of Armstrong v Sheff. Weds, and might be worth thinking about against his old club Bristol City. There is no magic wand to solve current issues on the field, but if the next 9 games follow a similar template to the first 9 it might well be all over by Christmas, a sobering prospect indeed. I want P.P. to put things right, or at least get the team to compete with some level of parity against fellow strugglers and notional peers in the Championship, but time will tell if he will a) be given the opportunity, and/or b) show the necessary tactical acumen to do so. As regards the players, they must somehow lift themselves from the collective malaise that overwhelms them when they fall behind...easier said than done, especially as they seem incapable of keeping a clean sheet up to half-time, never mind over 90 minutes...it really is looking to be a long drawn-out struggle, even before the quarter season stage has been reached.

Earlier in the season much was made about us only playing the so-called top sides (Derby, Hull etc).
Well, have a look at the table - we have played 4 teams in the top half of the table and 5 teams from the bottom half.
Utter failure!

And another moan!
Remember when the embargo was lifted and the comment "we can now include the young lads (King, Earing, Turner) in the squad".
Well 2 games in and not a sight of them.
They may not be better than what's in the team now but they can't be much worse.

The only good thing about a long drive home is that I get the chance to read everybody else's remarks before I leave mine. I think everyone's already summed up the abject, disgraceful performance, most notably from the manager but my focus was more on when leaving the ground today. I went to the boys room first and I think it's the first time I've ever left the ground to total silence. No complaining, no criticising, no commenting just glum and contemplative faces. I think everyone was shocked at just how bad it was today. In fairness, I thought Brentford were terrific, football as it should be played, on the ground pass and move unlike our ridiculous hump it in the air stuff as usual. I am however going to disagree with DavidM regarding their goals and Alnwick, they wee all terrific strikes and not many keepers would have got near any of them. Actually, when the players lined up before the match, I was struck how small the Brentford team looked compared to us. I foolishly thought that might help us but how wrong was I? So we wait to see what happens now. Surely this has now gone on long enough for KA to accept that Parky just hasn't got it and should be put out of the misery he must be suffering.

We are in a league of our own and we are bottom with nothing to shout about. At the end of last season I can bet you not one fan can honestly say this is were we will be coming to the end of September and this is before we go to Bristol and villa. We all knew it would be tough but not this tough surely π’π’
