If, like me, your not at the stadium, like AndyL, but are instead reading the Beeb newsfeed, it's not pleasant reading... Attempt missed - Zach Clough Attempt missed - Gary Madine Attempt missed - Dorian Dervite !!!!!
Shooting practice Neil, Johan, Garry
FROM THE BEEB This will be the first match between MK Dons and Bolton Wanderers. You don't say!!! Bolton have won just one of their past 12 away league matches on a Tuesday (D4 L7). You don't say MK Dons' 1-0 defeat by Preston at the weekend was their first loss at home in six games. Really?? The Dons had won the previous five, netting 20 goals in the process. Yep, I have mentioned their prowess in front of goal Wanderers are the only side in the Championship yet to score this season. & this is our main issue..., Message to Chairman Fartslide, please back this manager in the transfer window before we lose him And sharpish

So what the hell do we do now! don't keep saying on another day we could have had 5 I just want 1 . This is another side we have never played and lost That's Burton, Crawley Now MK Dons all we need now is for people to come on here and say keep the faith. How can we keep the faith when all we can get is players even Blackpool didn't want to sign. We have set a record tonight 6 games without a goal god help us cause Darkslime won't.

This jobs far too big for Neil I'm afraid. It needs a miracle worker and someone whose not afraid of the big fat Gartside, someone who can make a silk purse from a sow's ear, can turn water to wine, can rise us back to the summit like a phoenix from the flames...
Please Please Please
S.O.S BSA...
This needs a campaign like no other to get our leader back. The sort of thing that brought all them fans to turn up outside the ReeMac on the Muamba affair, or those that came to see the Lofthiuse statue unveiled
I wish I could stop fantasising!!!!

Not really sure why we couldn't win this game against likely relegation candidates. We dominated the first half, more than matched them in the second and missed a shedload of really good chances . Prince missed an easy header from a good Feeney corner. Dervite also missed easy headers one in each half. Clough had three mazy dribbles but failed to get a shot off from any of them, late on he had a good shot well saved and Heskey got two on target in his cameo. Madine in the second half brought a ball down brilliantly , swivelled and was robbed of the ball at the last minute before scoring . Moxey had a good shot saved in the first half, we had a near miss from Clough at a free kick. Clough failed to turn in a second half cross easier than one he scored last year v Watford. And most glaringly of all after a good surge from Mark Davies, feeney out wide hit a good cross, Madine knocked it back, Clough measured a well placed shot and the keeper swooped from nowhere to deny him.
Meanwhile they offered no threat to goal whatsoever, scored a gift goal after a cataclysmic error from Wilson and missed a sitter in added time. Amos had one or two routine saves to make but nothing difficult
So why did we lose? two reasons, I think. Firstly Wilson made a horrible error, as Price did in the first half. We had escaped once, twice was too much to ask. Secondly on the night they made the better managerial decisions. They emerged in the second half with a mandate to push up the field more and when Madine, Vela and Clough were obviously flagging they brought on Powell in midfield which kept them possession longer and gave them the extra man who indeed scored the goal. Then noting that we were playing with no width they changed it again , strung 5 across the back and although we made some valiant runs into the penalty box most ended up in seeming brick walls. Neil was too slow to respond, eventually subbing Feeney as he had to do and should have done earlier but for whatever reason ignoring Spearing who might have added some strenght to midfield and left the struggling players on to see out the 90 mins.. and they just couldn't do it.
Then we have to ask why we didn't win. And that's more difficult. Lack of width was a problem but Madine and Heskey won everything in the air. Clough and Mark Davies really played quite well breaking from midfield. Wilson put in a good cross or two but on his flank Vela was frankly poor and did very little running. Also too many players were disinclined to take repsonsibility and passed square or backwards rather than incisively too often. Our defenders hold very little threat at corners. prince's and Dervite's were bad misses. Dervite cannot head a ball at all it seems.
Some players, I thought, did pretty well tonight and did not deserve to be on the losing side but overall we lacked the confidence to score and that's a recipe for relegation. A friend I was with observed that the rules for the Golden Gamble will have to eb changed to predicting which match will see the next BWFC goal rather than minute..and all around recognised the merit of the remark. It was really annoying to see the team mugged again and rather dispriting to see Neil yet again lose the tactical battle. Of course he is hamstrung by lack of resource and injury but it's beginning to be his team, MK Dons were worse than us and we should have won. It is hard to see how we can win a game with fitness levels so problematic. And that too raises questions.
As ever I return to Feeney. Occasionally he can do good things from the wing and we saw one such today and he is full of endeavour but he just isn't good enough to play a free role up front and be Madine's principal support. He just can't do it. Four times in the first half he was naively caught offside and more than that pretty much every ball played to him was quickly lost or given away.In effect therefore we played with ten and that became 9 after Vela was booked and became virtually non combatant in the second half- he is not himself- why? Again questions are raised about the qwulaity of pre-seaosn preparation
In this game we played some very good football and offered two sweeping moves, one in each half which we really good to watch and worthy of goals. Clough and Mark D did well much of the time. But we have lost a critical game to one of our immediate relegation opponents and it's just not good enough
Amos 7 Wilson 3, Prince 5 Dervite 6 Moxey 8 ( very good tonight but taken off in jured at the end-won't play Sat ) Vela 4 Danns 7 ( good especailly in the first half) Davies 8 Clough 7 Madine 8 Feeney 3

"No goals Bolton" plainly obvious to everyone where our major problem lies, Andy gives a good account of the game it's a shame Gartside/Davies do not do something about it, Lennon must be tearing his hair out with frustration.

Yes. But Neil is also part of the problem? He picks Feeney repeatedly and plays him out of position. Who else might he pick for this role then? Answer-anyone other than Feeney! Or if no player suitable adopt another system! Feeney has one limited use- on his day he can give us width on the right. When I think how long Freedman persevered with Chungy on the flanks when this free role was perfect for him as Neil proved, I shudder with horror at the continuing vagaries of those who would manage..and now Feeney who only functions wide is roaming about like a stray cat.
It was also obvious that we have no leaders on the field other than maybe Amos who continues to impress and engage. But for him Prine and Wilson would be even more prone to errors and I think he has contributed to Moxey's improved defending. That said it has come at a price because now that Ream has gone we have no-one in defence who can confidently bring the ball forward and pass it accurately..
There's also a terrible lack of pace in the team. It's this that halts breakaways.
It seems we have signed Paddington Bear from Arsenal and we are considering adding more conviction to the team with our new trial list. A full back may appear from Cagliari.
It looks like being a long, long season!

We've played 4 games and been the better side by the sounds of it in 3 of them and utterly dreadful in the other which shows that we are a lot more combative in a 4-4-2(ok we were playing a tougher game but never turned up).
I just feel that for the 3rd season we've turned up ill equipped. In the pre-season thread, me and a few others said how telling it was that we were really srtuggling to create chances and score and keep clean sheets. Like the two seasons before we're struggling like made to get the ball in the net and we will very rarely keep clean sheets. If we'd have only scuffed one in the net at Derby it would have given us a huge lift and taken pressure off. Commentator on Sky Sports last night "There is just no confidence at all in the Bolton front line, can't see them getting their first goal tonight" and so the pressure snowballs into the weekend and you know the first missed chance will cause a few groans and heads down. Time for Lennon to do some proper man management this week.
But I say ill equipped and I mean that on and off the pitch. One in, one out was an absolute joke. The way I see it Gudjohsnon was apart of this team, when he left we didn't expect it, even though he wasn't contracted there must surely have been the budget for him. So what happened to that money? We all knew that we couldn't go onto a 46 game season with Madine, Heskey and Dobbie. A proper striker was needed. We were linked to a few Enriche, Finnbogoson,Stoked, Hooper etc and here we are still searching.
We've signed this Silva from Arsenal who seems anything but a striker. I refuse to believe that there aren't payers knocking around lower leagues or from abroad who have a knack of finishing a ball in the box. I really think not taking ALF on loan was our costliest mistake.
Positives: At home, in the league, we're unbeaten and performance was ok. So no reason why we can't keep that run going. MK Dons are a very attacking time that we for most part limited them to few chances. Only at the end of the season will we know how bad that result may look.
