contrary to what many on here think, opta & bookies still favouring us big time for this game. 47.6% chance for the win on Opta. 26.3% Reading. any remaining % for draw obviously theanalyst.com/competition/english-league-one/fixturesbookies...bet 365 bwfc to win. odds on 3/4. so £1 odds pays out £1.75. or to win or draw at 2/11. no value there ...unless you want to back Reading ! Reading lost last time out to Orient, but had a good away draw at Brum. Brum lucky to nick a point thru a dodgy'ish pen. also beat Charlton and Wigan. did lose to Wrexham, so had a tough old run of fixtures. they have some off field issues again , now.. when they seemed to be coming to an end. proposed takeover fell thru'. so they might start chucking tennis balls again, and a few of our lot may well join in ! not making any predictions. if current form goes on. we'll lose & lose badly. but who's to tell if there's been some kind of galvanising internal turn-around ??!?!

I don’t think any of us can call this one rtf there are so many variables with it. Will IE look to make significant changes to the system? Unlikely. Will the players all be on the same page following George’s comments and will the Reading players be affected by the off field news? I don’t think they will. All I can say is that I expect Evatt to continue with his recent set up if only to save face. How can he not if he’s that convinced by it? Maybe I’m misjudging him, maybe recent events will have encouraged him to sit down with his coaches and have a rethink on set up and tactics. Unfortunately I doubt that will happen and he will hunker down even more to convince people he’s been right all along. I just don’t see it and I’m afraid last weekend shocked and saddened me and drained all the confidence I had in him and George’s words just deepened that doubt.
I’ve said before that I just don’t recognise a team at the moment. What is Schon, what is McAtee, why only two in midfield and what’s the point of 3 up top if they don’t get the service and where is that service supposed to come from anyway? JDC creates nothing on the right and is not supported by Toal or Forino and likewise on the left Schon never gets past a man and even if we did cross it who would it be to? Will Johnson start because I still don’t know why he was left out against Huddersfield? Has he said something Evatt didn’t like, is he one of the ones George nferred might not be getting it? There are so many variables and it could go either way but I think Reading are a decent team and no pushovers and Selles is an astute manager and will see this as an opportunity to steal the points whilst we are in disarray. He will know that if he keeps us pinned back in our half we can’t hurt them and the crowd will quickly get agitated. So I’m afraid I see yet another coach get the better of Evatt and turn his system against him and if that does happen then surely there’s only one decision for the club to make? Wanderers 0 Reading 1.

This has to be a proper reset. I know it was effectively a B team international but how can Sheehan captain his country and not have the sense to call out that two in the middle isn't working, won't work, can never work. Making the best player last season look like one of the worst.
Shon isn't a wing back. Cogley hasn't got it. Mcatee and Collins aren't clicking and are probably not 10s.
I mean nothings working. I can't really give anything that I like.
I think he will have a little reset. Drop Collins and go Mcatee and Charles and go back to 3 in middle. Matete, Sheehan, Thomason. With either of the former doing to Paris role.
I don't think it's perfect but it's better than 5221

Like you I haven’t a scooby doo who’s going to start and where. The one possible improvement is Williams fit for LWB because Schon has been worse than bad for me. Cogley is lost on the right without Jones to feed him but we have zero options there seeing as Evatt’s binned Matheson. Heaven knows who goes up top but I’d personally bin Dion who’s been awful and doesn’t look interested and start Victor with either of McAtee or Collins but certainly not both. Frankly I don’t think it really matters who starts because I think it will be another borefest unless Evatt accepts his system isn’t working. He does though say things have gone well this week so you never know maybe things are looking up and confidence is returning? I’d love to think so but I need proof that it’s long term and I’m not sure I’ll see that. 🤷♂️

The only improvement I’m expecting will be when we go 2 down our heads don’t drop and we only lose 2-0 rather than a totally embarrassing loss like last week
Evatt can’t reset digital clock and Reading will do us over
He’s already told us he doesn’t know how to fix things, what the absolute hell is he still doing here?

Played at Carlisle and they were giving him stick and he plays out of his skin. The only time last season I think he ever turned up. Season before for whatever reason after the incident and the court he was on top form, then after his sentence he went well off it. Though there was injury issues. He is capable of being one of the best in the team, in the league, but doesn't want it. Maybe he feels the back injury in the back of his mind, maybe he feels let down we kept playing him through that injury treating him like a Blackpool Donkey. Speaking of Blackpool Donkeys(ha too easy) I'll leave that one for now.

real pity tweets don't embed, so they are directly visible here anymore, but the link should work. anyone seen this Evatt.. Radio Manc interview ? filmed on doorbell cam by the look of it, but that's not the point. he looks punch drunk... gone 12 rounds with Tyson Fury.... board are behind him, and he's behind them !?!?! he could justify it all... but he won't right now, but then semi does it anyway..how's it got to this after 3 games..AFTER ALL I'VE DONE FOR THEM..THE UNGRATEFUL B*STARDS.... i may have slightly mis-translated the last bit, but it's clearly the sentiment. why does'nt he push off if he thinks he's soooo bloody good, and we don't deserve him. ooh mac normally likes this stuff. evatt's contradictions. wants to manage top clubs in the PL. but cannot stand the slightest bit of scrutiny. Evatt will blame the vibe among fans, but looking at his post match interview and this one..what about the vibe around the manager ? supposedly says he doesn't pay attention to social media !? . top manager, would just be saying broad shoulders, keep calm & confident. just keep players happy. control the controllables. ignore external distractions. you can't fight the fans..but he's keeps on with these indirect digs etc. lead from front. either that or create siege mentality and use it as a positive. this guy is a magnet of negative energy...permeating it all to the players. taught, tense & angry. x.com/BBCRMsport/status/1836816771925356707don't mind if someone has a different opinion to me, but my god..there aren't too many backing Evatt to the hilt quite so forcefully as this looney tune ! i'll be posting his stuff on , if it all does goes South for Evatt. mark my words. x.com/rayclegg1/status/1836869315611566167x.com/rayclegg1/status/1836868757492257172

It’s clearly a huge day for Evatt tomorrow and anything less than a win is for me terminal and should be. We can’t keep limping along and unless there are some serious tactical changes that the crowd can see then things will quickly go down hill. The huge majority, including me want him to do that because I’ve enjoyed some terrific football under him but it just seems to be going backwards. We’re getting slower and slower if anything and that can only be down to him. What’s most annoying is that we do have the players to do that, get on the front foot and attack but not the way Evatt’s setting them up. Let’s see if he can change it up because if he doesn’t and he sticks to the same slow sideways stuff we’ve been playing then frankly his backside doesn’t deserve to touch the ground out of the door. Maybe he should come and sit with the fans and feel what we endure but then I don’t suppose he’d get it even then. Just win on Saturday Ian and let the players have a bit of freedom to perform.

Remember the Barnsley league game at TS last season. We were losing and they had a 20m spell where we were passing it to them and they had 3 great chances to kill the game. Baxter decides enough of this and got the ball, ushered the players up and kicked it long. Fans cheered. (May describe it as ironic but it wasn't) that set a tone, we rescued a point. Direct cross from Collins.
Evatt couldn't help have a pop at the fans then.
Obvious the guy cannot take any sort of criticism and won't accept it. He'd rather banish his captain, sell his best player, sack his coach than admit responsibility.
Honestly guys turning into Keith Hill, you can see him becoming more defensive. The more he's exposed the more confrontational he will become.
Surely his ego means he walks. How does it feel seeing Duff get the better of him again. How can he look Caldwell in the eye knowing they've gone from 7-0 down to comfortable winning at our place.
A lot of people who don't really follow have asked "so what's happened have you lost all your players?"
Everyone in League 1 knows that's not the case, no we've kept all the players and added to them. We should be better.
Craddock has bought him time but not much. My own theory is that perhaps the Emirates is what Ian is hanging on for. Maybe that's been used as a barter. I'll walk for free/reduced terms if you give me until then. (Actually gives us a few more weeks to get the background work done)
As much as I don't like him even I think he probably does deserve to lead us out at a proper premier stadium (no offence Luton).

I agree with you that Evatt is not a humble man but do not agree with your theory as to why he is not resigning. I am not sure that walking out at Arsenal in the third round of the League Cup is superior to walking out in front of 70,000 at Wembley in a play off final or even the final of the pizza cup.

I am not sure that walking out at Arsenal in the third round of the League Cup is superior to walking out in front of 70,000 at Wembley in a play off final or even the final of the pizza cup. I was going to say exactly the same thing o2m and to be fair to Evatt he’s now done it twice with us, once successful once a total disgrace but both must be better than walking out at the Emirates, though that would be pretty special under the lights. Like you I don’t think Arsenals part of the deal and if we lose badly again on Saturday he’ll be gone very quickly I believe. I don’t mind arrogance if it’s deserved and I don’t mind sticking to a formula that you believe in but when it’s pretty obvious to everybody that the arrogance isn’t deserved and certainly not just because you’ve worked hard which should be a given anyway and sticking to the current “improved” formula which hasn’t worked since last Christmas just seems utterly stupid. Evatt has to change and with this squad can change it but if he refuses to accept that and continues on with the same awful stuff we’ve been seeing the there really is only one way it ends. I still really hope he can turn it round, there’s everything there to do that and let’s be honest, we’re only 6 points off the play off places so not really a mountain to climb. We have a run of games which are winnable and it must start on Saturday so sceptical as I am of Evatt I can’t believe he won’t finally adapt to what we all can see is wrong.

ol' Barry Fry had the right attitude during a tough spell. clips starts at 42.25 in the vid. in bed. about 2.30 am ..can't sleep. then says... no good being depressed. no good turning up to training with players in morning all miserable. gotta be cocky, confident, bouncy gotta pick 'em up. gotta be positive etc . quite right . can't you imagine Evatt being any of these things or even hiding it. he can't even hide his displeasure after games....several times just walked off and not clapped the fans. how more are not afronted by that i'll never know. it's not the done thing by any stretch. love the line at 43.25 . gotta try and get 5 mins. fancy a bit luv ? . instantly laughing and getting a smile on. smiling is relaxing. etc can you imagine "the incredible Sulk" doing that ?? you've probably seen this before, but the tfr negotiations with Miguel de sousa at 36.18 in the vid are brilliant. some good laughs there .
