Only one team played to win that game and it weren’t Derby
Hard luck Wanderers, you played really well but didn’t get the rub of the green
Collins was a bit of a let down although he did ok in the first half
Very bruising result that was

I don’t know what to say I’m gutted but for me and it’s only my opinion we slowed everything down again and payed the price so it will be another year waiting for a win at Derby COYWM

Toothless today.
We brought a great save from their keeper from the Bodvarsson header plus 2 shots from Sheehan and Thomason which were easily saved but that was it.
We dominated possession – again – and Derby were pretty poor. Very much hoof it forward and hope plus stop us scoring which of course they did.
Rank bad defending to concede from a corner.
There still is hope because Derby are average and could easily drop points but we are shooting ourselves in the foot with these away results

That was so disappointing.
We played most of the football but, as I said above, we were toothless.
One good header from Bodvarsson and 2 so so shots summed us up.
Unfortunately, we concede too often and the defending for the goal was rank bad where a small defender did not need to jump to head the winner.
Realistically, that was 3 points dropped.
Derby are awful. Just big boot and run together with desperate defending.
Not much else to say – our away record has plummeted!
Marks:-
Coleman - 6 Not much to do really
Dacres-Cogley - 6 Wasted a few chances of crossing.
Jones - 6 So so, mainly looked OK
Santos - 6 Again, looked in control but we conceded from a corner. It has to be said, he never wins balls in the air from dead ball situations.
Toal - 6 Booked early, did OK but who was marking for the corner
Ogbeta - 5 We looked shaky defensively down our left back area. Beaten a few times. One or two decent centres but a lot more dreadful ones
Sheehan - 5 Could not control the game. Too many passes which were just off target
Maghoma - 6 Looked good for a lot of the time but couldn’t really create a chance
Thomason - 5 Similar, looked OK but we hardly created
Bodvarsson - 6 Unlucky not to score and I was surprised when he was subbed
Collins - 5 Disappointing today with some average passes
Dempsey
Jerome
Williams

Anyone noticing Lincoln’s rise??? Since they got beat off Blackpool on January 1st they’ve gone on to Win 7 Draw 5 Lose 0 For TWENTY SEVEN yes TWENTY SEVEN Against FOUR yes FOUR Points TWENTY SIX yes TWENTY SIX That’s a late promotion push if ever I saw it Bloody hell, take a bow mister 🥳 Michael Skubala🥳 he only started in full time management in November 23!!! Who, I hear you ask? Another manager that’s come from absolutely nowhere, but looks promising for the future, just like Schumacher, McKenna, Mousinho, Neill Collins. Reason I mention Lincoln, the way they are going, if we stay 3rd, we will surely be playing these in the play offs, to then meet Peterborough or Barnsley in the final, if, of course, it maps out that way, but like I’ve said, there’s still plenty to play for but we have to get the full 21 points on offer, which also means beating Pompey and Posh, which we are more than capable of doing COYWM

We were perfectly capable of beating Derby today but once again didn’t like we were capable of beating Pompey, Blackpool, Wigan and Barnsley where we were arguably the better team in all of them but if you can’t score goals it makes zero difference how well you play. Our goals for flatters us because when it really comes to it like today, we just don’t do it. We won’t do it against Stevenage or Pompey either if history prevails. We just seem incapable of performing when we really need to so I’m afraid it’s going to be play offs at best because as crap as Derby are they and Paul Warne know how to win while I’m afraid IE just doesn’t.

It's again a case for me of "dominating or being allowed to play our way because other managers know its ineffective"
I'll say this as I always do. 4 seasons for Evatt now. Same mistakes. Still can't score from, or defend from a corner.
Evatts done well. But he's been given full autonomy. He's been backed far more than Lennon, Hill especially could ever dream of.
Nothing rash but I don't think we should go into next season with Ian. I think his next club will determine if he's the real deal or not but my guess is honestly not.

Nothing rash but I don't think we should go into next season with Ian. I think his next club will determine if he's the real deal or not but my guess is honestly not. I think that’s a bit cruel OM because I think we have to remember that IE is still a very young and inexperienced manager in real terms. He will learn from this and I think is intelligent enough to know that he has to develop his methods and also learn one very basic fact, that it’s goals that win football matches not pretty football. We shouldn’t write things off this season yet we still have two opportunities for promotion but if we don’t make it I’m still happy to give Evatt one more go next season to get it right. If it’s not working at Christmas then it will certainly be time for a review but I’ve seen so many clubs replace good managers only to plunge and I don’t want it to happen to us. Maybe IE should adopt the old golfing analogy that you play for show but you put for dough? We’re playing lots of show but without holing many putts. 🥴

My mate is a Derby season ticket holder and he say's he couldn't give a toss how they won the game but winning is all important to getting out of this league and then said they got away with one today as so many teams we have played lately except Oxford. So do we just play ugly and win the fxcking game and get out of this easy league or do we just play the best football Ian has seen us play but get beat which is it ? Now me personally I can't wait to get out of this easy league and I couldn't give a toss how we win but winning has to be answer so sick of playing well and getting beat by helping the other team out with some sloppy defending and not scoring goals rant over COYWM

So maybe against teams like yesterday's Derby the much called-for Plan B should be - PARK THE BUS and score on the break?

More reflections on yesterday.
Mightily disappointing but a repeat of many times this season when “nobody in the stadium could say we deserved to lose” etc etc from the manager. What does” we have a process” mean?
Defensively, we were adequate because Derby were limited but, and it’s a might big but, we are so poor defending set pieces. Their centre half should have scored in the first half – totally unmarked 6 yards out from a free kick.
Somehow, despite his height and strength, Santos cannot defend high balls into a crowded box. He should be dominating and winning high balls like yesterday. I don’t care who should have been marking who, he is our giant centre half and need to win headers.
And why do we have all 11 back? It is too crowded.
The wing backs were poor.
Only the occasional cross went into a dangerous area. Ogbeta put a good cross in for Bodvarsson’s header but also put some dreadful centres in.
Defensively, Ogbeta is not good. Wilson just took him on and skinned a few times in the second half.
Midfield, we were too slow in our movement. Yes we had possession but Derby had everyone back by the time we approached their box. There were too many passes that were just hit too hard or just off target.
Upfront, Bodvarsson was OK but Collins was crowded out of the game. For all our “superb” possession stats, we do not get many shots in. The substitution of Bodvarsson for Jerome was ridiculous. We took out the only player causing Derby any worry. It seems so pre-planned in that the manager cannot react to the situation as it is in the match. 70+ minutes, we must sub a striker or both strikers regardless.
The subs who came on were poor. What has happened to Morley?
Overall, for all we question how we lost, the fact is WE LOST AGAIN.
We now need a miraculous finish to the season.
Our matches:-
- Stevenage - Away
- Reading - Home
- Bristol Rovers - Away
- Portsmouth - Home
- Shrewsbury - Home
- Port Vale - Home
- Peterborough - Away
Derby’s matches:-
- Northampton - Away
- Blackpool - Home
- Portsmouth - Away
- Wycombe - Away
- Leyton Orient - Home
- Cambridge - Away
- Carlisle - Home
Can we catch 4/5 points up in them?
