Game set and match two nil that’ll ding dong do for me Happy New Year one and all COYWM Yep Scrappy, windy affair and a ground out result Dion has to be stand out MoM, if only for his goal and the assist dummy for Vics goal Apart from Derby coming from 2-0 down to win, other results have helped us, so it’s been a decent 2023 Happy New Year to all Now let’s go do Burton on Monday COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

An excellent performance.
As is often the case, it was hard work getting the goals but it was thoroughly deserved as Fleetwood caused us very little problem.
First half, we dominated, had many corners, hit the post and had one disallowed. It was hard to get the chances that our play deserved.
Second half, we got the start we wanted when Charles got the ball in the ball with his back to goal but twisted and turned so well that he made space and scored into the corner. In all honesty, it wasn’t a chance but he made it one.
We continued to dominate and we eventually caught them out when playing from the back. Dempsey charged down Josh Earl’s attempted clearance and immediately played the ball across the area to Charles who very cleverly dummied the ball to give Adeboyejo a good chance that he took well.
Overall, a comprehensive win. The defence were just too good for Fleetwood, the midfield eventually dominated and, although there wasn’t a great deal for the strikers, we got 2 good goals.
Marks:-
Baxter - 6 Just nothing to do again
Dacres-Cogley - 7 Part of a solid defence with some good bursts upfield
Jones - 7 Yet again, very solid
Santos - 8 Dominated Fleetwood’s strikers
Toal - 7 Good, again
Williams - 7 Loads of attacking play
Thomason - 7 Busy
Sheehan - 7 Kicked all over but did well
Dempsey - 7 Brilliant work for the second goal
Bodvarsson - 7 Unlucky to hit the post
Charles - 8 Really good work for his goal and always dangerous
Adeboyejo - 7 Took his goal well
Morley - 7

No mark for Jerome? If there was any criticism tonight it's that he runs in quicksand wearing cement boots. His days have gone and its about time we recognised that and took him out to stud.
The only other negative was Randall looks incapable of playing a 90 mins. He looks to tire so easily. We really need some cover.
Thought Vic struggled in his general play but got a tap in and took it and boy was I glad we were 2 up and not 1 up going into that last 10 because the rain and wind picked up and anything could have happened.
Positives galore though. Santos, Toal, Jones, Thompson, Dempsey, Charles, JDC all really good tonight in tough conditions.
We did dominate from start to finish as Evatt claims. Actually some of the shooting was a little poor. Extra touches and drags rather than clinical.
Very good way to end the year.

I forgot that he had come on. In fairness to him, he did what he was brought on for – to hold the ball up and run down time.

Very good performance that given the conditions and we did everything required to get the points. Glad Victor scored and once again it confirms for me that played in the right system (not Evatts) he’s a very capable striker. He needs to be in the box not chasing down defenders or holding the ball up and I think he’s doing himself no favours staying here and trying to fit in because unlike Dion it’s not his natural game. Although we haven’t seen that much of him I suspect young Conor Carty could be a good partner for Dion as he seems about chasing down the opposition so we’ll see how he goes on at Donny where I’m hoping to pop along and see him. Anyway, back up to second and if we don’t slip up a chance to open up a little gap before our run in with the bigger boys.

I don't believe that they are down to bare (Fish) bones and I don't see why they would tell everyone listening if they were. Codding us. OK no more puns, but why would you play down your strengths. Like a boxer saying he's got a broken hand and broken rib. That's the frustration when you see, particularly Reading and Carlisle and see them struggling down at the bottom. Not only did we lose. We lost from winning positions. 5 losses not half way though. The Wigan, Pompey ones we were well beaten. Bristol Rovers perhaps was just one of them days. But the other two were awful and one's we need to cut out if we finish top two. Feels like it will be another cold, windy night lots of those things we didn't generally cope with last season(s). Have we really grown. Head and heart both say yes. Grind out a 0-2 win. Lovin the cracker jokes OooooM Last time we faced Lee Johnson, it went very very well for us as I remember Wouldn’t mind another 6-0⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ Lee must hate facing Bolton Wanderers Every time he loses he gets sacked😂😂😂

Lovin the cracker jokes OooooM Last time we faced Lee Johnson, it went very very well for us as I remember Wouldn’t mind another 6-0⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️ Lee must hate facing Bolton Wanderers Every time he loses he gets sacked😂😂😂 Imagine him trying to justify it. "I thought it was a lot better" "a lot better? We didn't have a single shot on target. We didn't get it in their half. From minute 1 to 90 we were 2nd best. We were awful" "Yeah but was 2-0, and not 6-0. A lot better". When he said they were down to bare bones I thought that means 1 of 2 things. They're either not and they want to spring a trap OR he needs to let the owners know to expect a bad'un. Well it weren't the first. Also wasn't the guy Tschminga was he the one scoring all sorts of goals before stepping up to POSH and failing? I thought at one point it's the type of striker we should be getting.
