Burton Sitting where Wigan were last week Won 0 Drawn 1 Lost 3 Scored 1 Against 7
If we can’t give these a thrashing, summats not right!! They’ll play a 3-5-2 I expect and as long as their 5 man midfield don’t bully Sheehan, Morley and Dempsey, then I’d expect Dion and Vic to get a brace apiece
Mate of mine said pre-season, poor old Wigan, minus 8 points and look who they play in their first 5 games, us, Derby and Barnsley (all much fancied for automatic promotion of course) If they do Barnsley on Saturday I think we can confidently say that they should win this league or at the very least be going back into the Championship
Anyway, let’s sort out the Brewers first eh?
COYWM Let’s do them⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

My thoughts too Ricoh, if we can’t win this one questions really will be asked. A tanning like we got last week ought to be an automatic incentive to put things right and any response less than a good win is totally unacceptable. I do expect us to return to form and win comfortably against an injury hit Burton. History is irrelevant to me so previous results should mean nothing and any player who uses that as an excuse needs binning. I fully expect a straightforward 3 points as well as a few goals. As for Wigan I think Barnsley will be good enough to get a point at Wigan which if we do win will be a good result for us too. I’m hoping for and expecting a much better weekend this week.😉

There’s no such thing as a “must win” game at this early stage of the season but this comes pretty close.
We desperately need to get back on track after that appalling performance last Saturday.
Apart from bringing Charles back to replace Nlundulu, I tend to think he will stick with the same side; partly to give them a chance to get back to our Cheltenham style.
Masses changes to the side – don’t get me wrong, the majority of the team deserve dropping after that gutless performance – will take away the flow/control we had before Saturday.
So on to Burton. A team bottom of the league with just 1 point and, in all honesty, there for the taking. There really can be no excuse for anything other than a good win. Any win is welcome but if we can get back to the start of the season style of play and win well, it will set us back up both points wise and confidence wise.
A 2-0 win for me.

I’m not sure there’s ever a time when a game is must win I just think that if you’re serious about automatic promotion you have to consider every game as must win and certainly games against teams struggling at the bottom like Burton. The Wigan game last week only increases the importance of winning this one especially with half their team still out injured so I’m not accepting anything less than your 2-0 win David and in fact I’d be looking to recoup all four goals we conceded last week. I’m not into this difficult stadium stuff or we never do well there. It’s two teams of eleven and if we’re better than them then we should win and by some measure I be,I eve we are better than them and the players need to show it. An early goal or several as we had in our first 3 games shouldn’t be beyond us so whichever way I think about this I just can’t see other than a comprehensive win for us. I stand to eat my own hat if I’m wrong!! 🥴

We have had a tendency to allow a bad result turn into a few on the trot. Saved by two January windows in the first two seasons, last years was a mini blip but think the Cheltenham and Forest Green did it for any hope of automatic spot. So can see why this may be a must win game. Especially given we have the likes of Derby and Posh coming up.
In my head we always seem to play Burton on a Tuesday night. May be wrong but know the Sky 0-0 and the JDB late winner were both night games and last year's at Pirelli was sure the first one was too. Anyway point I'm making is we've had a full week "on grass" as Evatt likes to say. No fresh injury worries, that I know of. No excuses.
Think I will go 1-3.

So the talking stops, time to turn up and make up for last week. The question I suppose is does IE start the same team to give them an opportunity to show last week was a blip or does he make changes to areas he has concerns about? Me personally, I’d start the same eleven and if they start off showing the same malaise as last week would hook that player immediately. You’d have to think that more than one of our fringe players will have seen last week as a perfect opportunity to push for a starting place, especially Maghoma, Forrester and CMG who have all shown ambition when included. We have 4 big games over the next couple of weeks so any shortcomings today from certain players must add to the clamour for change as we don’t want to get on another of those bad runs OM mentions after a poor result. Let’s face it, without being disrespectful to Burton, is there on paper an easier away game we could have had today? Bottom of the league, lacking in confidence and with an injury hit squad, how much better could it get to rebuild after last week? No excuses today about bogey grounds or a tough team to play, they’re just excuses and excuses don’t win you promotion. I have total faith in the team despite all the negatives and believe that we’ll win this comfortably so I’m pushing the boat out and forecasting a very comprehensive 0-4 victory to the Super Whites to set us up perfectly for Derby next week.

Morley, Sheehan and Nlundulu dropped.
Maghoma, Thomason and Charles in.
I would have only brought Charles back and made the others prove that last Saturday was a one-off.

Likewise David, I’d have stuck with last weeks side and see how they react. The only change other than Dion returning I’d have considered making would have been Forrester for Jones to give us a little more height at the back in Toals absence but as I like Gething going forward I can see him keeping him in. Expecting 3 points today and nothing less.

This is totally bloody awful
Burton could be 2 or 3 up and no one could argue
70% possession ensures Evatt reverts to type
Have a bloody go at em ffs
Dion Charles with his first effort on exactly 44 minutes!!!!
Even the 4th official and ref have had enough!! I was expecting at least 5 mins injury time but they only gave 2, even though we’ve played 4, probably because they’ve had enough too This has been dreadful

Well that was awful.
No passing of any quality.
Defensive mistakes which should have led to 2 goals conceded.
We just have no control of the game at all.

What planet did I come from predicting a brace for Vic and Dion😞😞😞
This is NOT the response we all expected listening to EvattBalls in the press this week!!! Proof that not only does he not have a Plan B, he doesn’t have a plan at all
BIG second half coming up, now so sort it

Just awful a bunch of spineless gutless morons. We’re making Burton look good here and that’s saying something. There’s time yet but surely we’ve got someone who can show some spirit?
