Never can understand this, Port Vale bring an impressive 2000 fans, but they pack them in on the upper tier of the South stand Why not shove them in the lower tier as every camera angle only ever shows that and it would look great to see it full on TV It looks like the DW Stadium when it’s empty I’ll give Sharon a call in the morning 😂😂

2-1 at halftime it’s a very tight game we need to step it up as this Port Vale team doesn’t look like a team that have only won one of their last nine games COYWM

Probably a bit controversial here but apart from his goal, Sheehan has been crap PV are a threat as our back line looks so iffy

Phew! Lucky win. They knew how to nullify our attack and defence (only 5 shots to their 11) - other teams will watch that and think "they don't like it up 'em" Puts them right off their game and they have no plan B. Come on Evatt - give them some Plan B's. Adaboyejo looked lumbering today - very slow runner unless he was carrying an injury before he went off. Well done for winning and with a lot of luck, stopping them getting more. Stats very interesting, lots of work to do to beat Argyle and climb that table.

However, Sofascore notifications, which are normally very swift were 5 mins behind today so didn't spoil it for me!

Make them less effective to influence the game/ref. Harder for them to impact the players up in the gods. Makes sense for football reasons but for entertainment and atmosphere it's a little bit petty

Well that was certainly after the Lord Mayor’s Show!
A real struggle. Our passing was dreadful, our defending very slow and slack and, overall, that was a fortunate 3 points.
We set off with what is becoming our regular slow start at home where we stand off and watch the opposition come at us.
Port Vale could have been 3-0 up in the first 10 minutes as they headed over from a clear chance from a corner and Trafford made a smart save when the defence was asleep.
But it couldn’t last. We started with our ultra-slow walking football playing out from the back and Santos played a poor pass to Adeboyejo’s feet. He failed to control it; Port Vale easily won the ball and split us open down our left for a centre and a simple tap-in. A very justified score line because we had started so sloppily.
We looked devoid of ideas until Williams showed his pace with an excellent run down the left and ultimately won a corner. Morley took it short to Williams who turned well to centre for Adeboyejo to nod in. And within a few minutes, Adeboyejo held the ball well on the edge of the area and laid it off for Sheehan to score with a fine shot.
So 2-1 and we hadn’t played well.
Things did not improve. Port Vale had most of the play. We continually gave free kicks away and their forwards won nearly every high ball.
Somehow we got to half time in the lead.
The manager had obviously seen enough and replaced Mbete and Shoretire with Jones and Charles but things did not improve.
Port Vale had most of the play. Trafford did well and we hung on.
I think if we had played a team with more clinical finishers, we would have lost because our play was that poor.
But win we did so celebrate that and hope that this was just a blip. 2 away games this week and 2 wins needed to keep the pressure on Ipswich and Plymouth.
Marks:-
Trafford - 6 Two good saves and a confident performance except for some awful kicking. I counted at least 3 times that he kicked the ball direct to a Port Vale player.
Bradley - 6 Some good forward play but had to turn inside most of the time and this blocked up the play. A few difficult moments in the 1st half defensively.
Toal - 5 His poorest performance for a long while. Poor passing and got caught on the ball
Santos - 6 Poor pass out of defence set up Port Vale’s goal but some strong defending also
Mbete - 4 First 3 touches were 2 slices into touch and a corner conceded which set the tone for a poor half before he was subbed at half time
Williams R - 6 Good run to win the corner followed by good centre for the equalising goal. A couple of occasions in the 2nd half where he just missed the ball completely
Sheehan - 6 Very good shot for the 2nd goal but some rank bad passes throughout
Morley - 5 Port Vale pressed our players and he could just not get into the game at all
Dempsey - 5 Similar to Morley where Port Vale pressed us well and he struggled
Shoretire - 4 Not his game at all. Could not keep the ball. Subbed at half time
Adeboyejo - 5 Took his chance well but his hold up play and passing quality were very poor
Charles - 5 Came on at the start of the 2nd half and was hardly noticed
Jones - 6 Came on at the start of the 2nd half and gave the ball away with his first touch but improved
Lee - 6 Calmed the midfield down and added some class
Nlundulu - 5 Tried hard but could not keep the ball
