For those of you who choose not to watch these games, and I understand your reasons, yet again you missed a very entertaining match.
It was also amazing based on the number of chances missed – easy chances at that.
.0-0 at half time and in all honesty it should have been 5-2.
We could have scored 3 in the first 10 minutes.
Jones missed a great chance, Charles had shots blocked, Afolayan had shots blocked, Aimson somehow missed form 2 yards out and it went on. Charles finished the 1st half by side footing wide from an open goal.
Utd had 2 glorious chances too. The move for the first chance was truly magnificent. Our attack broke down and they broke with pace and great passing. 4 passes and they were clean through. Trafford half blocked the shot and Jones cleared it off the line. A little later Trafford saved a header and the resulting scramble went just wide for a corner.
Second half slowed down a little but chances still came and were missed. The unfortunate Charles headed wide from a great chance. Afolayan then lobbed the ball over an empty net.
We eventually got the breakthrough from a bad mistake when their player tried to pass back to the keeper and Afolayan nipped in to score. Very well taken by Afolayan.
Morley then scored an amazing free kick from an acute angle and we were home and dry.
We then got 2 goals in injury time with good breaks.
Another good game but we cannot afford to miss so many chances in league football.
Marks:-
Trafford - 6 Clean sheet and a couple of good saves/blocks in the 1st half. His kicking was awful though
Bradley - 7 Usual positive performance. Final ball into the box lacking a bit
Jones - 6 Injured. Missed a good chance in 1st half
Aimson - 7 Very good till he was subbed – presumably tiredness. Somehow missed an open goal from 2 yards out
Iredale - 7 Some good attacking moves plus a bit of aggression
Sadlier - 6 Left wing back/left winger – hard to tell which. Didn’t quite grab his chance that people had been shouting for
Morley - 7 Busy. Some good passing and a rocket free kick for his goal
Lee - 8 Very good. Available all over the pitch
Kachunga - 6 I think it was in the 15th minute before he touched the ball for the first time. He did do a few good runs after that
Charles - 5 Not his night. Should have scored 2, 3 maybe even 4 such were the chances he missed
Afolayan - 9 Excellent. Should also have scored 2 or 3 but excellent for the 4th goal
Bakayoko - 6 Showed some good attacking instincts
Toal - 6 Very steady.
Sheehan - 6 Some neat passes. Had a chance but like everyone else missed it
Williams - 6 Fine
Johnston - 6 Played central in the back four when he came on and his total left-footedness was shown up. He is a left sided defender not a pure centre back

I think you’ve pretty much summed up why I didn’t watch last night David when you said about all the missed chances, YET AGAIN!! I just can’t stand the frustration of watching these supposed professionals constantly spurn opportunities that schoolboys, or girls could probably finish. Other than an apparent “worldie” free kick from Morley, we seem yet again to have been ineffective from set pieces and corners, even against a team of kids. Sadly I’m rapidly losing faith in this team and in its managers ability to improve things. This is actually the first of the cup games I’ve missed this season and I’m also still debating whether to make the trip over for the Exeter game given the weather. Like you I’ve enjoyed them so far but I’m afraid the disappointment, significantly heightened after our appalling submission last Saturday, is rapidly dampening my enthusiasm. After two and a half years we still don’t carry any threats from set pieces, miss copious simple chances and give away gifts at the back.Add to that the constant chopping and changing by Evatt and his continued refusal to see how little the likes of Kachunga add to the team whilst excluding the Declan Johns and Kieran Sadliers who might make a difference just add to the problem. There is so much to like in Evatt’s football but he spoils it with his naivety and stubbornness. Can he change it in January? Big question and I’m not sure. We don’t have the money to buy the quality players we need and Evatt doesn’t seem to like to bring in experienced players who might disagree with his methods, so no I don’t think much will change, including which league were in next year.

www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/23187494.bolton-wanders-players-loose-women-panellist-join-thousands-sing/just a quick update about the Carol concert. i see the BN have finally got round to putting a story up. I had seen several people asking on facebook and twitter - did we do it ?- did we get the record ? people must have been wondering why the delay , and why the lack of info. well the BN story pretty much estimates the same kind of figure i put out yesterday..approx 10k. the article had to have some Orwellian Doublespeak in there to irk me..... "they were overwhelmed by the numbers " . I just cringe at all these celebrity endorsements they've had for this, when they ask, which they surely would do... how did you do ? . oh we just fell a bit short of the 25k target...by about 15k !? like i say don't want to be accused of panning the whole event. very good event. i've been to past ones, and will hopefully make future ones, and hopefully we will make the record next time & raise more money. etc

if ever there was a game that proves we need to spend money on a proven striker it was this one !!! I know it's a modest budget in the grand scheme but we spent £1M+ last January. Two strikers brought in then. I just think of there's money to spend you have to ask if Ian is the right man to spend it. No sales, no offers for any of his players. Little interest from what I can gauge. Maybe I'd trust him in the loan market. But if I'm in the hunt for a striker, I'm not sure I trust Evatts opinion on it. I would have liked to see Kachunga play left wing back last night. Sadlier gets judged playing playing here, there and everywhere. Kachunga fails in his proffered position and my worry is the one likely not to be here after Jan is the versatile player who does impress on match days.

I’d still take a look at that Langstaff kid at Notts County 21 goals so far and if he was available for £200-300k I’d be looking at him.
Let’s face it, we’re hardly going to snare any championship strikers, unless they’re aged and no longer needed, or they’d be in the high hundred thousands or millions.
I think Evatt fluffed his lines the last 2 transfer windows when he said we didn’t need anymore strikers and now we’re playing catch up with the spent force (if you can call it a force😞) of Bod, Kacha, Baka and Charles. All four are not prolific enough at this level, which is very poor judgement from Evatt. I don’t believe he has an eye for a player and if he does get lucky with a find (a bit like Charles in his early form) he coaches any credibility out of them. Like I said earlier, I don’t care whether anyone on here agrees with me or not, Evatt needs replacing if Bolton Wanderers are to be successful in the near future. He should have been sacked after that first half v Ten Hag’s Toddlers, it was truly worrying to see the team likely to face Exeter, struggling against some college kids

and then Portsmouth again at home the following Saturday. They will be sick of us.
Have you noticed we have been drawn at home in every cup draw this season (FA Cup, League Cup x 2, Papa Johns x 3) - someone is smiling on us
