Nothing to do with Manager of the Month award rftr, the people who award these things just look at results not how we got them. Yet again today let down by poor management and player choice just to keep the hoofball style going. We will get promoted, just probably, but only because we got better results and the others are falling over to help us. I know that sounds crazy but let's be honest, can you really see us surviving next year playing this team, this way? No chance, we'll probably be down by Christmas and only then will KA accept Parky isn't up to it. One trick pony but he'll need more than magic to survive next year. It may seem cruel but if we want to have any chance of staying up we have to say thanks Phil but close the door on your way out.

What a really poor performance this was and a well deserved defeat.
My heart sunk when I saw the teamsheet. Madine injured so we played Wilkinson. Did we learn nothing from the Sheffield United match where Wilkinson was dreadful?
I tilt towards Whitessince63’s territory here and blame the manager for a lack of Plan B. We spent practically all match hoofing it up to Wilkinson who won practically nothing – hardly any headers and absolutely no holding the ball up.
We started slowly and it just did not improve. It was just like Walsall, Peterbro, Chesterfield away where we concede first and may as well go home because there is nothing about us (or the management team) to give hope that we may score.
Our midfield was appalling. Scun.thorpe’s midfield had so much space and moved so well that they just cut through us and only desperate defending kept them out in the first half.
They scored when Pratley conceded a needless foul by ploughing through the back of an opponent 30 yards out. He did that most of the game – really stupid. Morris floated a lovely ball in but it was defendable but no-one (I think Dervite but I need to see it again Just seen it on C5 and it is Pratley who is outjumped) challenged. Their centre half headed quite weakly to one side of Howard who seemed so slow going down that it dribbled into the net. Very avoidable.
So we continued hoof-ball and got nowhere. Wilkinson was too slow to react to a good centre from Morais and then shot wide from our only other chance. Scun.thorpe didn’t get close either but they dominated play and ran rings round our midfield.
Second half I expected immediate substitutions but no. Just same big boot to a totally ineffective Wilkinson.
It took until past the hour mark to bring Clayton and Henry on for Wilkinson and Pratley. Vela started getting a bit of the ball but little improved.
Our tactics eventually reverted to endless hoofs, winning corners and piling in. Scun.thorpe’s defence, credit to them, handled Beevers and Wheater well. But they lost Clayton on a corner which he headed well only for their young keeper (reserve keeper I think) to pull off a great save.
After that it was poor hoofball pressure. We did not use our 3rd sub when it was crying out for Long’s pace.
Scun.thorpe were guilty of blatant time wasting but we would have done that. In fact, their no 8 Dawson cheated so much in the first half it was crazy. He appealed for a pen, not just calmly but screaming at the ref and linesman, when Moxey chested a shot down and then blatantly dived 3 times. Amazingly, the ref just told him off.
Overall a terrible performance but remarkably we are closer to promotion than before kick-off.
Howard - 5 A couple of good catches from high balls in the second half but, other than that, looked decidedly hesitant. I need to see the goal again but he appeared so slow going down for it.
Dervite - 5 Defensively OK but some appalling hoofs to no-one.
Wheater - 6 I don’t know who organised the marking for their goal but we were just all over the place. Other than that some usual good strong tackles.
Beevers - 6 Like Wheater, not to blame for the defeat. Attack wise, he couldn’t get near any corners/free kicks today.
Moxey - 5 He is just not a wing back. Not too bad defensively but attack-wise not good.
Spearing - 3 I thought he was terrible. Did I hear correctly on the radio interview afterwards (very crackily in the car) that Tower FM thought he was good. He won practically nothing, got caught on many occasions and did nothing positive.
Pratley - 3 The Pratley I hate. Spent most of the time giving away stupid free kicks including the one they scored from and his passing forward was just hoofs to no-one. Terrible.
Vela - 5 Best of a very poor midfield. Improved once Pratley was taken off.
Morais - 6 Not his greatest game but still our biggest threat.
Le Fondre - 5 Just chased terrible high balls all day but occasionally scared the opposition.
Wilkinson - 2 He is not a good footballer. In addition to his dreadful heading/trapping, he missed 2 decent half chances.
Clayton - 4 Unlucky when the keeper made an amazing save from his header from a corner but, other than that, he flatters to deceive.
Henry - 4 Look sharp or the first few minutes when he came on but then faded.
Manager - 2 Awful tactics. No wonder opposing fans think we are awful. He has no idea how to play if we don’t have a decent big centre forward.

a 1-0 defeat away to a team contesting the play-offs is by no means a disaster...the first half hour saw little of note from the Wanderers, but one or two good moves led to half chances and the promise of better to follow. The introduction of Henry and Clayton certainly improved matters, the former in particular making a number of penetrating runs, and chances were created as the game developed....unfortunately none were converted due to a combination of strong defending, good goalkeeping and misdirection. I though on the whole Howard played well, he came out for a number of crosses and caught well under pressure...a pity that so little possession ensues from his kicking and throwing, but that's not all down to him. The back 3 were solid other than for the goal, midfield struggled for possession for an hour but things did improve as mentioned earlier...overall the possession stats of 54%/ 46% reflected the game quite accurately, and we are by now all too familiar with the lack of creativity i9n midfield, but the Wanderers improvement was highlighted by the goal attempts and corners, with the Wanderers having far more of both, although each team enjoyed only 3 shots on target. There was no lack of effort and industry from ALF and Morais, but unfortunately Wilkinson struggled to make any impact against a strong defence...as has been mentioned previously, results elsewhere have not impacted on the points cushion, so on to Oldham and hopefully another step nearer to the Championship. The wonderful sunshine presented it's own challenge but I won't complain, it might be gone tomorrow...other than the result it was a pleasant day: A comfy journey on the coach, a very good pre-match coffee and chocolate caramel in the nearby Debenhams, and a trouble free journey home...a Wanderers goal would have rounded things off nicely! I don't feel quite as down as one or two others, it was a tough place to play and ultimately not much in it for me.

It may seem cruel but if we want to have any chance of staying up we have to say thanks Phil but close the door on your way out. That won't happen W63 and is not likely to happen as KA will say that under all the constraints, struggles, financial fair play rules, transfer embargo's, behind the scenes wranglings between KA and DH, this man (PP) will have reached (by hook or crook) the targets set to him when he was given the job, that being promotion (if, indeed we get there) Regardless of whether me, you or anyone feel that PP in the Championship will be a disaster, I would imagine KA will stick by his man. Looking at the last 4 games, Oldham of all teams are now looking the most likely to be our achilles heel in the run in and they are showing the same battling qualities that John Sheridan used to display when he played for us. With Coventry beating Peterborough today, we must surely be favourites to do the same and Chesterfield beating Port Vale, again that must bode well for the Wanderers, the only problem I see is that like today, if plan A doesn't work and there's no plan B, how do we get the wins that we need? Wrong time of the season for the Vela, LeFondre, Morais goals to be drying up too😬 Fingers crossed, squeaky bum time COYWM

We could really, and maybe will, still go up without winning another game.
We should go up and I think we will.
But that's not a team that will stay up. Wilkinson is not good enough to make the squad most weeks and deservedly so but when Madine is out Parky seems to think because he's the tallest player he fits!
Someone on BN said he's doing it on a shoestring? You joking. We've got Solomon, Long, Henry, Karacan, Thorpe on loan from clubs in leagues above not even kicking a ball. Weird thing is if PP is really that one dimensional we really should have kept proctor. A real PP player. No good but 6 ft 4 and probably shouts in the tunnel.

I'm hoping rftr, that once we are promoted, new backers are waiting to come in and hopefully will expect a little more entertainment than is likely with Parky. If I was a fan of any other club, or a pundit who espouses without ever seeing what we have to endure, I'd think it unbelievable to even consider replacing him but as one who's had to endure garbage from day one I can't even contemplate having to suffer it for another year. As I've said already, this stuff might reap rewards in this division but higher than this it just won't cut the mustard. We know how much tougher the Championship is from our much past experience there and this type of stufff will lead to certain relegation. I know it will seem cruel replacing Parky but we all know if we don't he will carry on with this Neanderthal stuff. It's all he knows. Both today and against Chesterfield were to me proof of his total incapability to change. Why would he, im sure he'll think promotion will justify his system? I know people think I'm being negative and our results prove Parky is right. All I'll say to that is that I agree in this division it's true, results are everything. I've been really surprised actually just how poor teams in this league are and what a cavern there is with the Championship. this team and this system will get slaughtered next year and I don't want to see that. Under Parky I fear we will.

I watched the Bradford v S****horpe game the other day and remarked that they both play so much better than us that I could not see us beating S****horpe. This transpired but our loss was assisted by the inclusion of Wilkinson who was and still is not up to it. I was slightly heartened by the warm up rapid pass and move skills which somewhat surprised me but of course these were not utilised in the game itself. Also the shooting during the warm up was markedly more accurate than usual and I particularly paid attention to Wilkinson who looked good, but unfortunately could not replicate this in the game. I also have noticed in the last two or three games that the Morais crosses are now failing in accuracy at the end of the game and he looks fatigued as did a number of our players - it was sunny and hot of course. Hopefully they will be well rested by Oldham. Thanks as usual to the Bolton Supporters who ruin us ordinary folks day out by their constantly screaming profanities and their inability to stand still, forever walking around at the front of the stands etc etc. I had the luck to have a great front row seat in the sunshine - turned out to be rotten luck

A good observation re: the fans who stood/ambled endlessly at the front Pedro...There are supporters who are unable to stand up, and who need a seat with plenty of leg-room which is guaranteed on the front row, but who must feel really frustrated at having their view obstructed by people who have so little awareness/consideration of others... the stewards quickly gave up in efforts to persuade fans to take their seats. As regards the constant stream of profanities, it's something I'll never understand but as my son often tells me I'm out of touch with things like that..I try very hard to remain out of touch, but unfortunately it seems impossible when attending sell-out away fixtures.

I'll probably be a million miles out with my predictions but here's goes
I'm guesstimating that the following teams will obtain these points and we 'should' just scrape through to promotion
Bolton 6 85 Fleetwood 10. 82 Bradford 10 82 S'****horpe 12. 82
Even if Fleetwood win every game and we only scrape my estimated 6 points, we'll be up by 1 point. Only then will I eat my words of anger following that IMPORTANT home draw with Chesterfield!!😬😬 COYWM
