Late goals are a great habit to form, pity it wasn't for the 3 points, but great for Mason..looking forward to reports from those who went.

I think you mean Clayton GD but yes good to see Max on the scoresheet and saving a point and Parkinson's blushes. I think he personally has to take the blame for this one, he got those changes totally wrong.

Yep Totally agree W63 PP's fault we're not sitting a point behind Sheff Utd With FA Cup coming up it would have been a nice 3 point cushion till we play in the league, but it's an away point I suppose🙄

Apologies, I always get Clayton and Mason mixed up, as Andy L will attest...perhaps if he stays injury free I'll get it right!!

Sorry guys talk about lucky 2-2 against a team that might be going down is not very good. We need to be beating these teams. Trotter what the hell is he doing at this club surely we must have somebody better than him ? Parky got it all wrong today if he felt he needed to make changes then do on Saturday in the cup not today. Rant over but come on

I mean in Parky's defence he will assess the players, and have a team to assess the players to understand how fatigued they may be. It may be the choice of a 60% fit Clough or a 95% fit Henry/Trotter? It is a squad game these days just unfortunately the squad we have isn't quite strong enough.
Disappointed that, like Lennon, PP cannot see that Derick is an asset in the middle and a bit of a liability at the back. No Wilson or Buxton today so needs must but I would try Thorpe there and give Osede that chance in front of the defence but as i've said Thorpe may have been unable to play.
I can imagine that some of you will say that a footballer should be able to play 2 games in quick days no problem and talk about the old days where players would play one day and then go on to play next day, on a bog of a pitch. Think those days are over though.

A selection of comments from elsewhere: "Trotter is possibly the worst midfielder we've ever had, even the GMR commentators were saying how bad he was.......has zero footballing ability....... seriously was worried for Parky's sanity when I saw the team sheet included Trotter who shouldn't ever be in the squad, let alone the team....better off playing with ten men" .etc.
Can we offload him in the window? Pratley and Clayton can fill the role far more effectively. Or use Osede where he is most comfortable....in front of the back 4.

Tales of horrific four hour journeys made my twenty minute trip very welcome. The game in the first half was just dreadfully flat. Spearing gave his all throughout but most others fell short even Vela, Beevers and Wheater who have been so forceful and commanding The defence had a very unbalanced look. Derik is not a right back and he went from bad to worse before ultimately being withdrawn. PP had opted to rest Thorpe and recalled Trotter. Whilst I would make it clear that he can do good things he was awful today. Imagine Joanna's typical view of him and multiply by ten-that bad. In and amongst a shot less first half and any number of errors a small boy of perhaps 6 or 7 behind me said very articulately and clearly. 'Why did he pick Trotter for Thorpe. I don't like him. Dad can I have (some food). 'And it was a very good question. Trotter didn't look fit and he lost the ball all the time. He was booed off when subbed.
We were better in the second half but by then had fallen behind and deservedly so to a far post cross nodded back and then in. Beevers should really have done better to stop the cross. Ameobi had a day where he lost the ball too often but in a desert of no creativity he was the one player trying to carry the ball at pace up the field.
Suddenly yet another long ball found Madine one on one. He was wrestled down and Clough calmly slotted the penalty. Against the run of play we were back in it. COYW! But within a couple of minutes the Coventry left back skipped through two men, drove forward past the hapless Derik ran 60 yards and laid it inside to a colleague who fired in a pretty good goal.
Rocked on our heels we were down and out and a very frustrating 15 minutes followed.Neither Clough nor Clayton could get the speed of the game, Madine who in general had played as well as any faded and all seemed up. Suddenly Ameobi was dispossessed again and a player sped away with ten yards of clear space. Suddenly with everyone else static Spearing sprinted sixty yards force his man wide and then took the ball back. The champagne moment lifted team and crowd. We pressed forward with renewed energy had one or two half chances and then suddenly the ball fell to Clayton who in the middle where he belongs moved his feet Klasnic style and smashed home the equaliser. Wow! And after that Madine chested down a long ball rounded his marker and shot wide from a good position . We could have won.
Coventry weren't bad actually. They scored two fine goals and were first to most balls for much of the match but for the third match running they collapsed at the very end!!
Alnwick 7 Derik 2 Beevers 5 Wheater 6 Taylor 7 Spearing 8 Trotter 1 , Henry 4Vela 5 Ameobi 6 Madine 7. Clough 6 Clayton 6

Thanks to the misery of the M6 (3½ hours to drive 100 miles) I missed the first 30 minutes so these comments are based on the final 65 mins.
This was an awful performance.
Credit that we kept going and equalised but the standard of football was dreadful.
Since the Sheff Utd and Gillingham games, we have reverted to endless big boot football. Hoof the ball up to Madine and hope to get something. It does not work at all. It is boring and creates little. Fair enough if we get a win as against Scun thorpe but, against Coventry, NO. We negate the value of Vela, Clough, Ameobi and it is awful.
As I say, I missed the first 30 minutes but first impressions when I got on were not good. Just no control of the football at all.
Beevers was terribly at fault for the first goal. A long ball was played out to the right. Their player just out-muscled Beevers who then failed to cover and allowed a centre to be played to the far post where Derik was out of position allowing a header back across goal for a simple head in. Where Wheater, Taylor and even the goalie where, I do not know.
And so it continued to half time. Aimless football.
Second half we picked up a bit but still little happened until we replaced Trotter and Henry with Clough and Clayton. This change pushed Vela back to centre midfield alongside Spearing which blunted his normal play and, in all honesty, the two subs didn’t do much until Madine somehow got some space and was tripped in the box. It was a 50/50 decision which could have gone against us but Clough scored well from the spot.
This, though, did not improve us. I don’t think we touched the ball again until it was in the back of the net. Ameobi made a terrible mistake in being caught in possession in our own half and then failing to recover which totally got Derik out of position and they had the freedom of the left wing to chase forward – with no response at all from Ameobi who just stood on the halfway line watching. They got to the edge of the area and somehow got a shot into the corner. I need to see it again on TV but Alnwick didn’t seem to move.
At this stage we were dead – just like other away games this season. Just toothless. Proctor came on and we played with practically no defence. This almost cost us as they broke and got the ball in the net only to be just offside.
We kept pushing but with little confidence until the 90+ minute when Clough took a swipe and totally mis-kicked. The ball shot across the area to Taylor to play it into Clayton who made space for a good finish.
Ridiculously, we could have won it as Madine got in behind their centre half but only half hit his shot which trickled past the far post.
I am really despondent about this performance – and the 2 previous wins – as the style is awful. We are playing just as we did in that terrible September spell but, somehow, getting points.
If we continue like this, we won’t get promoted
Alnwick - 6 Some poor kicking. Not sure about either goal. The first he was rooted to his line when he header came back in but not really his fault. The second, he seemed not to move.
Derik - 4 Not a full back. Bad position for the first goal. Some really poor passes too which is not his norm.
Beevers - 5 Badly at fault for the first goal. As with others, some dreadful passes and hopeless long punts.
Wheater - 6 Not sure on his marking for the first goal and, like Beevers, is starting to look a little shaky.
Taylor A - 6 Put in some decent crosses in second half. Seemed leggy in his running.
Spearing - 7 A couple of great tackles which woke the side up.
Trotter - 3 I only saw 30 minutes of him. He had one lazy shot over the bar in the first min of the second half and some terrible passes. That though is no excuse for our fans to boo him endlessly. He had a bad match but don’t boo him.
Ameobi - 3 Hopelessly at fault for their second goal. Just got caught in possession most of the game. Poor
Vela - 5 Not his dynamic self. Maybe he needs Clough to be in the side with him.
Henry - 5 A couple of good defensive back-tracks but saw nothing of him attacking.
Madine - 6 The usual situation of loads and loads of high balls. He won some but there is nobody around for his flick-ons and, as ever, his footwork is terrible. Won the pen and almost won the match in the last seconds but he cannot shoot for toffee.
Clough - 6 Don’t know why he was on the bench. He tried hard, scored a good pen and had another near miss but we are wasting his talents at the moment.
Clayton - 6 After 92 minutes, I was thinking that we just had not noticed him on the pitch but he then took his goal well.

Andy. Did you think that they had all over indulged again against the Gaffer's orders à la the Boxing Day lethargy or are they just not fit enough to play 3 games in 7 days, even after 25 plus games when the Bradford posters on the BN site were telling us how fit a Parkinson team is compared to the rest?
Listened to the whole game on Tower FM despite loathing the tone of voice of the main commentator Chris somebody and laughing out loud at the White hot scouser's summarising and interjections!!
Inspired substitutions? Or panic after realising his cocked up teamsheet?
Great to see his bias against Max Clayton is hopefully over.
I do hope he can fix the "lulls" when we seem to get lazy and let teams back into the game as v S****horpe and many others before that. Surely a shout from the touchline is not impossible rather than just watch them do it over and over again?

I think they were trying but selection was faulty Derik should not play at full back. He can't do the position and he can't go forward. We were stuck and Ameobi had no support. I 'd rather have had three at the back and pushed Taylor or maybe Moxey to wing back left and Ameobi right. In the final twenty they more or less did this. Spearing was very fit and up for it. Trotter looked half fit. Henry doesn't really do left midfield and we couldn't get any first and second balls. I like Derik but he has to play 1 in midfield or 2 in central defence. Maybe he could have played in midfield. DavidM is right. We are hoofing too many balls to Madine and we are less impressive doing so. For all that he was guilty of this I do like Alnwick. He catches crosses very authoritatively. Today he was asked to make too many kicks after too many back passes
