I am guessing from his comments after the Hull game that he knows he is making a right royal mess of it and even the financial issues can't cover over his "win" percentage. The club obviously can't afford to sack him and who would come to work for us at the moment anyway?!

On paper it wasn't that bad a result and Marc Iles has it as a 1-1 draw in his report(another excellent piece from our chief sportswriter) but it sounded like a drab match where we could have got all the points if we'd have turned up. Teams like Preston, Bristol City and Rotherham are scoring regularly now and picking up points. We're being cut adrift.
we're not really playing with any pressure, daft as that sounds, fans are sticking with them.
But another toothless display, another away defeat and another game without scoring and not many chances created. Lennon is as poor a manager as we've ever had, there's no getting around it. I don't care about budget. The guys got 30+ players on the books and can't muster up any good chances. We're 14 goals in 20 games. Pretty easy for opponents managers really isn't it. Go out and get a goal and you've won the match, IF they score first then go and attack and they'll concede under a slight bit of pressure. The only time we've picked up any points is when a really poor team come along and defend for 90 minutes too. Like Preston.
The last time we had a lead was October. 7 games ago.
All season we've only been in a winning position 4 times and one of them was a 4-1 defeat. Pretty obvious that motivation isn't Lennons strong points and again how many free kicks wasted yesterday. They are so crucial but we don't seem to train on them at all. They could be the difference between 3 and 0 points.
Shocking. Should go back to Celtic. Their european form is as bad as our form so he would be welcomed back i'd imagine.

It's clearly time to let Neil go. What it costs to get rid will be softened by the low cost or no cost replacement.
Step forward Jimmy Phillips
The Lennon sympathisers need to clear their heads and concentrate on the thing that matters most, Ed Davies, Gartside, Lennon, crikey, even BSA will come and go, but the Wanderers will always be there for us supporters (we hope!!) So let's at the very least, allow the club to go down with more fight than Lennon can muster by throwing Jimmy in at the deep end. Call upon SuperJohn, SKD, Stelios etc to offer their support to Jimmy, for free, as they're all quick to be outspoken about our plight, promote Diddy David Lee as JP's sidekick and you can guarantee that the fans will be onside and show their vocal support and no doubt increase numbers through the turnstiles, then who knows what might happen!!! Not sure we go for sentimentality over experience. Someone who knows how to set a team up. Not sure if Moyes is interested at all suppose it would depend on new owners and budget. He would sort this defence out and get us hard to beat.
Out of boredom, I worked out that in the 1890 minutes of football played this season we have been in a winning position 191 minutes and taken 4 points from having that advantage. Amazed we get any away support.

I wasn't being sentimental mentioning Jimmy, I just thought he might have something fresh to offer and he wouldn't cost owt

I don't have any regrets ,I said from the start he was on a steep learning curve and it has turned out it was as I feared to steep , mistake after mistake after mistake , bad signings , bad tactics ,the list is endless , as some one else has said "any body can win the scots prem " he has no pedigree and needs to go down to div 3 and learn his trade from scratch . TAXI FOR LENNON.

We're at a low ebb and dispensing with NL and keeping it within the family at low cost but huge experience of this club and it's players would seem an entirely logical atop to me. That is of course if either choose to remain here if not getting paid. Let's face it, they have families and responsibilities too.

TAXI FOR LENNON. Fair enough, oddly not many managers do go to the route of starting at division 3 and working your way up and when someone like Keith Hill is mentioned as a potential manager people seem to scoff that they're not in the same league. Here's where my sympathy starts with Lennon. He came in with this really poor team. We weren't even competing in games we were getting turned over. Ripped apart. We were getting passed off the park from Bury. Had Neil got us playing better but couldn't quite keep us up i'm sure people would have said "he did alright and build a foundation, he's the man to bring us back up". The fact that he took a few woeful players and got some very good short term performances out of them made him the victim of his own success. His fantastic start set the bar, a bar that we could never maintain. Especially when you think that we lost Mills, Ream, Craig Davies, Barry Bannan, Eidur Gudjohnson, etc. Huge players for us last season. Club captain, player of the year, top scorer and best all round player(EG) and not to mention CYL. Who had he stayed probably may have been captain, top scorer, player of the year and best all round player. So yes that's why I have sympathy. However, it is time for Neil to go because he doesn't have an eye for a deal. He's brought in too many duds without replacing them. He sticks with out of form player, if he does drop them he brings them back inexplicably. He hasn't got a great squad but he has enough players and any "professional footballer" should be able to take a corner and find the head of a defender. Why can't we?

To be fair to NL I don't think he had any choice in the matter for any of those players he lost OM. Furthermore I don't believe the players he's brought in would have been signed either if he'd have had free choice. I don't blame him for trying whatever he had to to try and find a nugget. Add to that the loss of key young players like Cloughi, Walker and Clayton and frankly anybody would have struggled. I do know though that he's been a total gentleman about it and never been negative about the club and always respectful of the fans. He was sold a pup here and now he's paying the price.

As bad as we have been I still think there's some talent in the team. So many of the games have been 50/50 and had we scored at critical times we could have stole a few more points. But they aren't creating much so we never get the rub of the green. I think a new manager would be better prepared to set a team out to get goals either from set pieces or open play.
Whoever comes in needs to be desperate for a job(volunteer) or be a massive fan who doesn't mind the risk of losing their reputation. Would prefer Neil to walk on his own terms though.

Quote from Mr Mourinho which was oddly enough what I was talking about as he was getting beat "One possibility is that I did an amazing job last season and brought the players to a level that is not their level and now they can't maintain it."
Exactly what Lennon did. If Darren Pratley had continued on the level he was playing he would have been Premiership quality for sure. Vela at righ back came and looked amazing. Clough was a mini Messi and Walker on his day looked very good. He was even getting really solid performances from Danns and Davies. This year their 9/10 rated games are no where to be seen and they're back at the 5/10 if their lucky.

I feel exactly the way i felt when I made this thread. It is with regret that Neil has lost his job. He kept us up last season, whether that was by inspiration or just a change of personnel i'm not sure but this season has just been one disaster after another. Started all quite positively too. Clean sheet against favourites Derby. But then that goalless spell at the start and waiting until September for the first win....and then December for the 2nd. No away wins and only 4 points. Half dozen signings that came and went. There is such little to base a case for Lennon staying. I thank him for his efforts, especially that first season. The first few games when he brought attacking football back, got us scoring goals and he worked well with the media to make The Macron a good place. With Dougie I wished a career of failure and unemployment on him. Not the case with Lennon. I think there are two jobs still out there for him to take. Celtic firstly and then taking over the Northern Ireland job. He could still be seen as a successful manager just not this side of Hadrians Wall.
