will do more on here after final game..but just to start the ball rolling.
bear with it, heavy going if you read it all in one go. might take several slow reads to take it all
in, but there is some good /interesting stuff in there.
i did a clean sheet analysis last season 13/14 here

12 clean sheets last season.
this season we've only kept 10 so far.

www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2014-2015/defence
M'boro have the most with 20. some odd outliers among the stats. Brentford are in 7th with just 10 clean sheets like us.
but Millwall are going down with 15 clean sheets . 8 of those 15 were 0-0 draws, so scoring goals was their main
problem.. you need a balance between the 2.
breaking down into keepers and central defenders earning those 10 clean sheets for us....
Lonergan 7
Amos 2
Bogdan 1
i'll try and flesh that out later with appearance numbers. these are lge stats only but Bogdan also kept 2 in fa cup ..v Liv away and Wigan home.
of the 10 clean sheets, as far as i can see.... only 2 were with a back 3... ipswich home game ,and cardiff away.
Mills featured in all 10 .
Dervite in 8.
Wheater in 2
Mccarthy in 1.
Ream only in 1 ( as c/b) at cardiff
(proof :10+8+2+1+1= 22 . that 8 clean sheets with 2 cb's = 16, and 2 cl sh's with 3 cb's 6. 16+6=22. )
in terms of c/b's p/ships
it gets confusing with back 3's so i'll separate the 2 with 3 cb's out. at cardiff it was mills, ream derv.
ipswich home was derv, mills,wheater
so of the remaining 8 with just 2 cb's :
Mills/Derv got 6.
mills/mccarthy 1 ( home to millwall )
mills/wheater 1 ( home to brighton )
only 1 of the 10 clean sheets was against a top 8 side...Ipswich (home) and that was with a back 3.
we had 6 home clean sheets and 4 away.
last season (13/14) we had 5 at home..7 away.
www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2014-2015/true-table/away
in terms of away clean sheets, only 1 team had fewer than our 4... Blackpool with just 1. but looking at the table,
the sides are much of a muchness. the best only have 8. Brentford only have 5..ipswich 4. relegated sides like wigan have 5
and Millwall 8.
weird..almost looks like only scoring goals matters. last year, i made the point that all sides that went up had a minimum 17 clean sheets.
even so, 15 clean sheets looks to be about the minimum this time which is still 5 more than we managed.
****
on to scoring then :
last season ( 13/14 )we failed to score in 12 games... so far we're up to 12 again. **( update after Brum game..13 in the end then !)
amazingly 6 of those came in Doug-loss's (first) 10 games of this season. a 60% fail rate. !!!
so in 35 games since we've only failed to score in a further 6 games. 6/35 = a fail rate of 17%.
3 of DF's ( 6) were AGAINST the top 8.
4 of NL' ( 6 ) WERE AGAINST TOP 8.
the home and away split of the 12 fails is 3 at home 9 away. of the 3 home games, 2 were under Df..just 1 under NL (ipswich home)
of the 9 away.. 4 were under DF ( almost every away match he had this season !) and 5 under NL ...& NL's were mainly to top 8.

in, but there is some good /interesting stuff in there.
